Mason County Jail

Telephones

Interview with youngster

JM: Did you have regular access to telephones?
youngster: Yeah, they were shut off from 10pm-10am though.

JM: What types of charges applied for calling people?
youngster: 3.50 a call, and was limited to 20 minutes a call.

JM: Did you need to buy phone cards to call out?
youngster: No. you couldn't. The only way you could call your family or friends or bosses was if they could accept a $3.50 collect call from the jail.

JM: Did the jail screen your calls?
youngster: Yeah. All the time. They screened the visits over the phones in the visitation room
